Overview

As of 2026, SEB has more than 65 analysts covering over 300 Nordic companies, with offices in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, London, New York and Frankfurt. U.S. investors are served by SEB Securities, Inc. Its Corporate Research unit covers smaller, less liquid companies outside its main research coverage, including reports commissioned by the companies themselves. These reports are freely available to professional investors in Europe; SEB says wider access can help improve liquidity. The bank also arranges investor access to covered companies' senior management.

SEB traces its origins to Stockholms Enskilda Bank, founded by André Oscar Wallenberg in 1856, which merged with Skandinaviska Banken in 1972 to form Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken. In 2000 its investment bank, Enskilda Securities, bought Norwegian broker Orkla Finans for shares, giving Orkla a 22.5% stake that SEB repurchased in 2003. In 2005 SEB merged Enskilda Securities into its Merchant Banking division and rebranded the equities and corporate finance activities SEB Enskilda; its US unit was renamed SEB Securities in 2013.
