Profile
Combines UK retail, corporate and private banking with a transatlantic investment bank and US consumer cards. Revenue comes from lending and deposits, fees, wealth services, markets and advisory activity, while performance depends on credit quality, interest rates, market activity and regulatory capital requirements.
Runs five focused businesses: Barclays UK, Barclays UK Corporate Bank, Barclays Private Bank and Wealth Management, Barclays Investment Bank, and Barclays US Consumer Bank. The mix spans retail deposits, mortgages and cards; corporate finance; private wealth; global markets and advisory; and US consumer cards.
Combines a UK base with a strong US presence and serves consumer and wholesale clients globally. Its current rebalancing redirects capital toward the UK businesses while holding Investment Bank risk-weighted assets broadly stable, preserving the universal-bank model with a more explicit allocation framework.
Earnings and balance-sheet performance depend on consumer and corporate credit quality, interest rates, deposit behavior, trading and capital-markets activity, and regulatory capital and liquidity requirements. Operational resilience, cyber and data controls, and conduct compliance remain structural requirements across the group.
