Profile
Generates, transmits, and distributes regulated electricity across Virginia, northeastern North Carolina, and South Carolina, with gas distribution in South Carolina and contracted nuclear and solar generation elsewhere. State-approved rates drive the utility businesses, while a pending NextEra Energy combination remains subject to shareholder and regulatory approval.
Supplies regulated electricity through Dominion Energy Virginia and Dominion Energy South Carolina, serving homes and businesses across Virginia, northeastern North Carolina, and South Carolina. The Virginia business generates, transmits, and distributes power; the South Carolina business also distributes natural gas.
Contracted Energy adds long-term-contracted generation outside the core utilities, led by Connecticut’s Millstone nuclear station and solar assets. The portfolio also includes the 2.6-gigawatt Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project under construction off Virginia Beach, alongside nuclear, natural gas, solar, and other regulated generation.
Utility revenue depends on rates approved by state commissions, while Millstone sells into New England’s wholesale power market under contracts and market arrangements. A pending combination with NextEra Energy requires shareholder and state and federal regulatory approvals; if completed, the common shares would be converted into NextEra shares and cash.
