Profile

Companhia Paranaense de EnergiaELPCUtilities

Provides electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and commercialization in Paraná, Brazil. Its integrated utility system operates under Brazil's power regulation and has been refocused on larger generation assets.

Runs a regulated electricity system across the state of Paraná, Brazil, spanning generation and transmission, distribution, and energy commercialization. Copel Geração e Transmissão handles power production and transmission, while Copel Distribuição serves the distribution network and Copel Comercialização handles energy trading.

Recent divestments of piped-gas, smaller-generation, and other interests have refocused the portfolio on larger electricity assets. Created to carry out Paraná's electrification program, it now operates as a dispersed-capital corporation without a controlling shareholder.

Brazil's electricity regulator, Aneel, governs the core activities, and hydroelectric concessions set a long-term operating framework.
