Profile

General Dynamics CorporationGDIndustrials

Builds Gulfstream business jets, Navy submarines and ships, military vehicles, weapons and munitions, while providing government IT and mission systems. Revenue comes from aircraft sales and services plus long-term defense programs, with the U.S. government as the primary customer.

Operates four segments spanning business aviation and defense. Aerospace builds and services Gulfstream business jets through Gulfstream and Jet Aviation. Marine Systems designs, builds and supports nuclear-powered submarines, surface combatants and auxiliary ships through Electric Boat, Bath Iron Works and NASSCO.

Combat Systems supplies wheeled and tracked military vehicles, weapon systems, energetics and munitions to U.S. and allied forces. Technologies combines GDIT's IT and mission-support services with Mission Systems' communications, command-and-control, cyber and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

Pairs complex engineering and manufacturing with lifecycle services for long-lived platforms and government programs. Most revenue comes from the U.S. government; results therefore depend on appropriations, procurement rules, contract performance, skilled labor and suppliers, while business aviation adds global commercial demand.
