Profile

HealthStream, Inc.HSTMHealth Care

Subscription software helps U.S. hospitals and health systems manage staff learning, clinical competency, credentialing, provider enrollment, and shift scheduling on one interoperable platform tied together by its proprietary hStream layer. Demand tracks federal and state training mandates and payer-enrollment complexity, and the founder-CEO has run the business since its 1990 founding.

A subscription software suite for hospitals and health systems spans staff learning, clinical competency assessment, credentialing and provider enrollment, and shift scheduling, unified by a proprietary interoperability layer called hStream. No single customer contributes a meaningful share of revenue, and a smaller e-commerce channel reaches individual healthcare professionals directly.

Training demand tracks OSHA, Joint Commission, HIPAA, and state continuing-education mandates, while credentialing work depends on enrolling providers across dozens of payers plus CMS and state licensure. A projected nursing shortage adds pull toward scheduling and competency tools for stretched clinical staffs.

Founded in Nashville in 1990 and public since 2000, the business has been run by its founder-CEO since inception and consolidated once-separate segments into a single reportable segment in 2023.
