Profile
Transmits, distributes and sells electricity while controlled subsidiaries generate nuclear and non-nuclear power and provide engineering services. The domestic electricity chain dominates the business, with overseas nuclear and grid projects extending its reach.
Purchases electricity from six generation subsidiaries and independent producers, then transmits, distributes and sells power to end users across South Korea. The parent operates the national grid and retail interface, while controlled companies handle nuclear generation, non-nuclear generation, plant maintenance and engineering.
Reliable grid operation and coordination across the power group are central execution requirements. Overseas activity includes nuclear projects, transmission and distribution work, solar and wind, supported by the completed Barakah reference project.
Domestic operations remain dominant. Electricity tariffs and fuel-cost adjustments require government approval, while generation depends heavily on imported fuels. Government majority ownership shapes policy and strategy, and grid expansion requires sustained financing, permitting, construction and public acceptance.
