Profile
Provides on-site material handling, metal recovery and byproduct processing for steel and aluminum producers, while selling track-maintenance equipment, parts, diagnostics and contracted services to rail operators worldwide. Most activity sits in Harsco Environmental and is performed under long-term mill-site contracts.
Operates two businesses serving metals producers and rail operators worldwide. Harsco Environmental embeds crews and equipment at steel and aluminum sites, handling materials, recovering metal from slag, producing Ecoproducts, and supplying Altek systems for aluminum dross and scrap processing. Harsco Rail sells track-maintenance equipment, aftermarket parts, safety and diagnostic technology, and contracted maintenance services.
Long-term, on-site contracts make Harsco Environmental the larger business, with customer relationships spanning multiple mill sites. Rail is refocusing on core maintenance-of-way equipment and aftermarket work after exiting troubled European engineered-to-order programs, while continuing its Swiss program. Operations span more than 30 countries, with Western Europe and North America the largest regions. Results depend on metals-production volumes, contract renewals, rail capital and track-maintenance spending, and compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
