Profile

Protalix BioTherapeutics, Inc.PLXHealth Care

Develops and manufactures plant-cell-derived recombinant protein therapies for Gaucher and Fabry diseases, earning product-supply and milestone revenue through commercialization partners. Its integrated model combines a proprietary expression platform and Israeli production site with partner-controlled global distribution.

Develops recombinant protein therapies for rare diseases through ProCellEx, a plant-cell suspension expression platform. Approved enzyme-replacement products include Elelyso for Gaucher disease and Elfabrio for Fabry disease, while PRX-115 is in clinical development for uncontrolled gout.

Manufactures commercial drug substance and clinical material at its Carmiel, Israel facility, pairing in-house discovery and production with partner-led commercialization. Pfizer markets Elelyso outside Brazil, Chiesi commercializes Elfabrio globally, and Fiocruz distributes the Brazilian taliglucerase alfa presentation.

Revenue comes chiefly from product deliveries and milestones under these collaborations and is recognized when inventory reaches partners rather than when patients use it. Operations depend on a single Israeli manufacturing site, continued product approvals, partners' commercial execution, and pipeline progress.
