Profile

QuidelOrtho CorporationQDELHealth Care

Pairs a central-lab reagents-and-instruments franchise built around VITROS chemistry and immunoassay analyzers with a point-of-care rapid-test line built around Sofia and QuickVue, plus smaller immunohematology and molecular-testing units, selling mostly on recurring reagents and service contracts.

Two diagnostics franchises sit under one roof: a central-lab business selling VITROS chemistry and immunoassay analyzers with the reagents and service contracts that keep them running, and a point-of-care line built around the Sofia analyzer and QuickVue rapid tests for clinics and home use. A transfusion-medicine unit and a smaller molecular line round out the portfolio.

The lab business is the largest and steadiest, anchored in recurring reagents; point-of-care swings with flu and respiratory demand. Hospitals, reference labs, and blood banks across North America, Europe, and China make up most sales.

Respiratory testing is a shrinking share of revenue after the pandemic surge. US donor-screening is winding down, one molecular platform is being retired for an acquired successor, and a blood-products joint arrangement ended in early 2026. Leadership turned over after a 2024 guidance shortfall. Predecessor Quidel traces to 1979.
