Profile

Selective Insurance Group, Inc.SIGIFinancials

Sells U.S. commercial, personal and excess-and-surplus property-and-casualty insurance, with revenue from premiums and investment income. Standard products reach customers through independent agents and E&S through wholesale brokers, making underwriting, claims, catastrophe exposure, reserves and distribution relationships central to results.

Writes property-and-casualty insurance across Standard Commercial Lines, Standard Personal Lines and E&S Lines, while managing an Investments segment whose portfolio is primarily fixed income. Commercial policies include general liability, commercial auto, workers’ compensation and property coverage; personal policies include auto, homeowners and flood; E&S serves commercial risks outside standard admitted markets.

Operates only in the United States, using independent retail agents for standard products and wholesale brokers for E&S. Field-based underwriters, claims specialists and risk-management staff work alongside distribution partners, supported by account-level pricing and portfolio tools. Results depend on risk selection and pricing, catastrophe losses, casualty reserve development and investment income. Insurance subsidiaries are regulated by states, and flood policies are written through the federal National Flood Insurance Program’s Write Your Own arrangement.

A 13F quarter can total more than the shares outstanding — sub-advisers file the same block twice, and a filer's own share count can be a quarter stale. No split is drawn from it.
