Overview
As of 2026, LifeSci Capital covers 92 life-science companies with an average market capitalization of about $2.3 billion. Its main research offerings are the Alpha Series of detailed analyses informed by experts and the KOL Series of events with leading medical specialists. The firm says its research and non-deal roadshows aim to make covered companies more visible to investors.
Michael Rice and Andrew McDonald, former ThinkEquity Partners colleagues who co-founded investor-relations firm LifeSci Advisors in 2010, founded LifeSci Capital as a New York broker-dealer in 2013. It launched its Alpha Series research product in June 2018. LifeSci Acquisition Corp., a SPAC whose sponsor was affiliated with the firm, merged with Vincera Pharma, later Vincerx Pharma, in December 2020. McDonald serves as chief executive and Rice as president.

Research philosophy
Our team is highly selective in choosing companies to cover, focusing on innovative science, disruptive clinical data, and capable management teams.
LifeSci Capital calls expert engagement the core of its research process, drawing on investor calls and dinners with medical experts, physician surveys and coverage of major medical meetings. In January 2020 it announced a move to fully independent, high-conviction coverage of selected companies.
