Overview
Unlike traditional Wall Street research, MUFG’s Capital Markets Strategy team maintains a dedicated focus on the needs of corporate clients.
Mitsubishi UFJ Securities (USA) launched U.S. equity research in late 2015 with four analysts covering oil and gas, midstream energy, REITs and technology. The group had not previously published research on U.S. companies. As of 2026, its U.S. Macro Strategy team also covers macroeconomics and fixed income and provides trade ideas for institutional investors. MUFG Securities Americas hosts corporate access conferences.
The firm was incorporated in New York in December 1988 and operated as BOT Securities and Tokyo-Mitsubishi Securities (USA) before taking the Mitsubishi UFJ Securities (USA) name. It became MUFG Securities Americas Inc. on July 1, 2016, as MUFG consolidated its US subsidiaries under MUFG Americas Holdings. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York designated it a primary dealer in January 2026.

Research philosophy
MUFG's New York Capital Markets Strategy team focuses on corporate clients. As of 2026, it publishes analysis for boards, chief executives, finance chiefs and treasurers on how economic, policy and regulatory developments affect business strategy, funding and hedging. These reports explicitly state that they are not investment research; the group's U.S. Macro Strategy team separately serves institutional investors.
