Overview
At our core is an entrepreneurial spirit, an interest in developing new ideas, and a penchant for acting on promising opportunities.
The research team, led since January 2026 by director of research Michael King, consists of biotechnology analysts, and its 2026 coverage list is made up of small-cap drug developers. Its research is written for institutional investors, from large asset managers to sector specialists, and its bankers present themselves as long-term partners to growth companies. Buy ratings made up about 88% of the rated universe in January 2025.
Rodman & Renshaw was founded in 1951 and was a Chicago brokerage when Mexico's Abaco Casa de Bolsa took control in 1994; it filed for Chapter 7 liquidation in 1998. A New York-based Rodman & Renshaw listed on Nasdaq in 2007 through a reverse merger, renamed its parent Direct Markets Holdings in June 2012 and stopped broker-dealer operations that September. H.C. Wainwright used the name for a research unit from 2015; Rodman & Renshaw LLC now operates as a separate, affiliated broker-dealer.
