Profile
Generates, transmits and distributes electricity and distributes natural gas through regulated utilities in the Inland Northwest and Juneau. Most operations sit in Avista Utilities, while AEL&P serves Juneau's isolated electric grid; returns depend on state rate-setting and continued infrastructure investment.
Generates, transmits and distributes electricity and distributes natural gas through Avista Utilities. Electric service centers on eastern Washington and northern Idaho, with a small Montana presence; gas distribution extends through Washington, Idaho and parts of Oregon. AEL&P supplies regulated electricity in isolated Juneau, Alaska.
Owns generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure, supplements supply through wholesale markets, and invests in reliability and aging assets. Hydroelectric plants anchor the resource mix after the Colstrip coal ownership transfer, with thermal generation and contracted renewables supporting supply.
Customer rates and capital recovery depend on state regulators. Power costs and reliability are shaped by weather, streamflow, energy markets and wildfire exposure; Juneau's grid has no interconnection to other utilities and uses diesel generation for backup.
