Profile
Develops productivity traits for major row crops using the RTDS and Trait Machine processes. Rather than sell seed, Cibus adapts traits to a customer's elite variety and licenses them for royalties.
Uses RTDS and the Trait Machine process to develop productivity traits for major row crops. Its commercial model edits a cell from a seed company's existing variety, regenerates a plant with the requested trait, and licenses the resulting trait for royalties instead of selling seed.
Development work spans canola, rice, soybean, wheat, and alfalfa, including herbicide-tolerance work in rice and a bio-based fermentation biofragrance program.
Commercial activities sit in one reportable segment and remain a trait-development and licensing pipeline rather than a mature product-revenue portfolio. Commercialization depends on scaling high-quality plants and seed cost-effectively, crop acceptance and performance within seed and downstream systems, regulatory treatment of gene-edited products, commodity-market conditions, and capital availability.
