Profile

Celanese CorporationCEMaterials

Makes specialty materials through Engineered Materials and Acetyl Chain. Its engineered-materials platform expanded through the 2022 acquisition of most of DuPont’s Mobility & Materials business, alongside a corporate history that returned it to the NYSE in 2005.

Engineered Materials and Acetyl Chain form the two operating segments of a global chemical and specialty-materials company. The engineered-materials platform expanded in 2022 with the acquisition of most of DuPont’s Mobility & Materials business.

Based in Irving, Texas, the business serves international markets and traces its roots to a U.S. cellulose-acetate company incorporated in 1918. Its corporate history includes Hoechst ownership, a German spin-off, Blackstone’s take-private acquisition, and a 2005 return to the New York Stock Exchange.

The current structure combines the two segments with assets brought into Engineered Materials through the Mobility & Materials acquisition. The company has operated as the NYSE-listed Celanese Corporation since that return to public markets.

A 13F quarter can total more than the shares outstanding — sub-advisers file the same block twice, and a filer's own share count can be a quarter stale. No split is drawn from it.
