Profile

LendingClub CorporationLCFinancials

LendingClub operates a digital marketplace bank that funds personal loans through FDIC-insured deposits and institutional whole-loan sales. The bank subsidiary — acquired in 2021 when LendingClub became the first U.S. fintech to buy a federally chartered bank — is rebranding to Happen Bank in summer 2026.

LendingClub Corporation operates as a digital marketplace bank headquartered in San Francisco, offering unsecured personal loans to consumers through a hybrid funding model: loans are held on the bank's own balance sheet, funded by FDIC-insured deposits, or sold whole to institutional buyers. The bank subsidiary — LendingClub Bank, N.A., currently rebranding to Happen Bank — was acquired in 2021 when LendingClub purchased Radius Bancorp, becoming the first U.S. fintech to acquire a federally chartered bank.

The company originated as a peer-to-peer lending marketplace in 2007, shut down its retail Notes platform in 2020 as the bank model superseded it, and exited an OCC operating agreement in 2024 as a regulatory milestone. The business targets high-FICO, higher-income consumers it calls the Motivated Middle. Revenue derives from net interest income on held loans and from loan sale premiums and servicing fees on the marketplace channel. The corporate parent, LendingClub Corporation, trades on the NYSE under ticker LC.
