Profile

Rapid7, Inc.RPDInformation Technology

Builds software that finds, prioritizes, and responds to security exposures across a customer's systems, cloud accounts, and network, alongside an around-the-clock managed detection and response service. Much of the product line came from acquiring smaller security-operations vendors and, since 2024, folding them into a single AI-orchestrated Command Platform.

Sells cybersecurity software and services that scan a customer's systems, cloud accounts, and network for vulnerabilities, then prioritize and respond to them. The lineage runs from an on-premises vulnerability scanner into a cloud-based platform, and includes the open-source Metasploit penetration-testing framework, acquired in 2009 and still maintained alongside a commercial edition.

Much of the product portfolio came from acquiring smaller security-operations vendors — automation, cloud security posture, threat intelligence — and folding each into a shared cloud platform. In 2024 these tools were consolidated onto a single AI-orchestrated Command Platform, unifying data once split across hundreds of connectors.

The company also runs an around-the-clock managed detection and response service on the same platform, with agentic-AI workflows added to automate analyst investigations. Headquartered in Boston, it serves more than 11,500 customers worldwide.

A 13F quarter can total more than the shares outstanding — sub-advisers file the same block twice, and a filer's own share count can be a quarter stale. No split is drawn from it.

Shares outstanding 66.83M · Float 58.74M · 87.9% free float

A Form 4 total here can count shares the filer formally disclaims — an award voted by proxy, for instance — which the holder's own Schedule 13D/G excludes, so where the two disagree the schedule's smaller figure is used.
