Profile
Southern African Energy and Chemicals value chains turn coal and gas into fuels and chemical products. The business also licenses Fischer–Tropsch know-how for third-party sustainable-fuels and chemicals applications.
Integrated Southern African Energy and Chemicals value chains convert coal and gas into fuels and chemical products through proprietary Fischer–Tropsch technology. The underlying operations combine resource conversion, fuel production and chemicals, with the historical production base centred on Sasolburg and Secunda.
International chemicals exposure also includes a Louisiana integrated polyethylene joint venture operated by LyondellBasell. Technology licensing extends operating experience to third-party sustainable-fuels and chemicals applications, including through the Zaffra B.V. joint venture with Topsoe. The emissions roadmap relies on capital availability, renewable-project and grid availability, supply-chain conditions, and access to cost-effective energy.
