Profile
Holds concentrated stakes in three separately listed industrial businesses — titanium dioxide pigments, security and marine hardware, and Nevada real estate development — through a layered structure ultimately controlled by the Simmons family trusts via Contran Corporation.
Controls concentrated stakes in three separately listed industrial businesses through a layered holding structure, ultimately controlled by the Simmons family trusts via Contran Corporation. Each operating business files separately with the SEC and trades under its own ticker.
Kronos Worldwide supplies titanium dioxide pigments that whiten and opacify coatings, plastics, paper and cosmetics. CompX International makes security locks for postal, transportation and furniture applications alongside marine hardware such as exhaust systems and trim tabs. A real estate arm develops a planned community on land in Henderson, Nevada.
The current entity formed through a 1987 merger of two predecessor companies under Contran's control, inheriting a lead-pigment liability from a 1986 acquisition that remains a recurring disclosure across group filings. Governance sits with a small circle of family trustees rather than a dispersed shareholder base.
