Profile

Zumiez Inc.ZUMZConsumer Discretionary

Operates a chain of mall-based specialty stores selling apparel, footwear, accessories, and hardgoods for young men and women into action-sports and streetwear culture, through three regional banners spanning North America, Europe, and Australia, with private-label products forming a growing share of what moves off the shelves.

Traces back to a general clothing store opened in a Seattle mall in 1978, pivoted toward skate, snow, and surf culture within a decade, and adopted its current name after.

Sells apparel, footwear, accessories, and hardgoods for young men and women drawn to action-sports and streetwear, through three banners — the original chain across the US and Canada, Blue Tomato in Europe, and Fast Times in Australia.

Stores cluster in shopping malls, concentrated in the US with smaller footprints across Canada, Europe, and Australia. Private-label products now make up close to a third of sales, up from several years earlier, alongside a wide mix of outside brands.

Most merchandise comes from overseas manufacturers, including a large share from China it has been working to reduce, and results stay tied to mall traffic and discretionary youth spending.
