Overview
Here’s our simple business philosophy and formula for success – maximize relationships, not fees.
As of 2026, Ascendiant's two-analyst team covers healthcare, including biotech, life sciences and medical devices, as well as technology, energy, consumer, media and internet companies. In July 2025, it rated 54 companies, 53 of them Buy. The firm presents its equity research as coverage of client companies. It says it does not seek exclusivity or a right of first refusal after a capital raise, arguing that public companies need support from a range of investors, analysts and banks. Ascendiant has also invested its own capital; in 2019, its principals managed two in-house funds.
Bradley Wilhite and Mark Bergendahl launched the first Ascendiant entity, Ascendiant Capital Group, in 2001. They had previously founded and operated businesses including Odyssey Sports, which was later sold to Callaway Golf. The broker-dealer Ascendiant Capital Markets, LLC was organized in Nevada in 2010. Its main office is in Jupiter, Florida, with an additional office in Irvine, California.
