Research philosophy
We are looking for mis-priced securities and the catalysts that will trigger a correction to fair value.
Longbow builds investment theses through supply-chain checks, industry surveys, retail polls and industry contacts. It describes its approach as buy-side stock selection within a sell-side research business, linking changes in business fundamentals to earnings potential. The firm conducts its checks directly with industry contacts, many of whom have longstanding relationships with its analysts. In 2008, David MacGregor said the Longbow name represented a tactical advantage rooted in detailed knowledge of companies.
Rating methodology
Stocks are rated Buy, Neutral or Sell on expected 12-month total return; earlier disclosures set the Buy and Sell thresholds at plus and minus 20%.
