The portfolio has expanded through Valspar North America's industrial wood-coatings business, U-POL, and CoverFlexx, which added automotive-refinish and aftermarket brands. Its history includes early automotive color paint products and color-matching systems, waterborne OEM coatings, and Voltatex insulation coatings.

An all-stock merger of equals with AkzoNobel has been announced but remains pending shareholder and regulatory approvals.
