Chart Industries designs and manufactures cryogenic storage, heat-transfer, and process equipment for LNG, hydrogen, carbon-capture, and industrial-gas end markets, operating through four segments that span hardware to aftermarket services. The Howden acquisition in 2023 nearly doubled its scale and extended the product range to compressors, fans, and blowers.
Chart Industries is an Ohio-founded (1992), Georgia-headquartered industrial-equipment company that designs and manufactures highly engineered cryogenic and process equipment for LNG, hydrogen, carbon-capture, water-treatment, and industrial-gas markets. The company's four reportable segments — Cryo Tank Solutions, Heat Transfer Systems, Specialty Products, and Repair, Service & Leasing — span the full equipment-to-aftermarket lifecycle. The Howden acquisition, closed in March 2023, nearly doubled Chart's scale and added compressors, fans, and blowers alongside a substantially enlarged global service network.
Under the "Nexus of Clean" positioning, Chart sells into the energy-transition infrastructure stack, with demand spread across North American, European, and Asia-Pacific markets. Chart operates as an acquisition-assembled platform: over three decades it absorbed more than thirty businesses, progressively narrowing from a diversified industrial roll-up to a focused clean-energy and process-technology provider. A pending all-cash acquisition by Baker Hughes, expected to close mid-2026, will take Chart private within Baker Hughes' Industrial & Energy Technology segment.
