Profile

Medallion Financial Corp.MFINFinancials

Originates consumer loans for recreation equipment and home improvement, with smaller commercial lending and residual taxi-medallion collections. Medallion Bank supplies the core lending and deposit platform, making bank regulation, funding access, credit performance, and partner channels central to the business.

Operates a specialty finance model built around Medallion Bank, an FDIC-insured Utah industrial bank. Recreation lending finances RVs, boats, collector cars, and other equipment, while home improvement lending funds contractor- or service-provider-originated projects such as roof, window, siding, and pool work.

Commercial lending adds subordinated financing for U.S. lower middle market businesses, and strategic partnerships facilitate fintech-originated loans that are sold without recourse shortly after origination. Current activity is concentrated in the United States, with consumer lending forming most of the portfolio.

Execution depends on dealer, contractor, financial-service-provider, and fintech relationships, plus credit performance in fixed-rate consumer loans. The legacy taxi-medallion business is now a residual New York City-area collection exposure, and Medallion Bank remains regulated by the FDIC and Utah banking authorities.
