Profile

Myers Industries, Inc.MYEMaterials

Designs and manufactures engineered plastic and metal products sold under brands including Akro-Mils, Buckhorn, Scepter, and Signature Systems, spanning reusable containers, composite matting for construction and utility sites, and portable fuel and safety products, with almost all production based in the United States.

Engineered polymer containers, composite ground-protection matting, portable fuel and water containers, and industrial safety products make up the core of the business, sold under brands including Akro-Mils, Buckhorn, Scepter, and Signature Systems. A legacy tire-service tools business, run through Myers Tire Supply, is being sold off.

Manufacturing is concentrated almost entirely within the United States, with only one plant located abroad. Reporting has historically split between a larger Material Handling segment and a smaller, tire-supply-linked Distribution segment.

A restructuring called the Focused Transformation is under way: the tire-supply unit is being divested and overhead trimmed, moving the company toward a single Material Handling business for the first time since it entered plastics manufacturing in 1946.

An environmental liability tied to a former mercury mine, inherited through a 1987 acquisition, remains an active Superfund matter overseen by federal regulators.
