Profile

PPL CorporationPPLUtilities

Owns regulated electric and gas utilities serving Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia and Rhode Island, earning through approved rates on delivery networks and Kentucky generation. Generation is concentrated in Kentucky, while Pennsylvania and Rhode Island focus on delivery and purchased power.

Owns four regulated utilities spanning Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia and Rhode Island. PPL Electric transmits and distributes electricity in eastern and central Pennsylvania; LG&E and KU generate, transmit and deliver electricity in Kentucky and Virginia, while LG&E also distributes natural gas; Rhode Island Energy delivers electricity and gas across Rhode Island.

Invests in grid hardening, smart-grid deployment, advanced metering, gas-pipe replacement and new Kentucky generation. Revenue and returns depend on state utility commissions and FERC-approved mechanisms that set rates and determine recovery of fuel, purchased power and infrastructure costs.

Pennsylvania and Rhode Island operations buy power for delivery rather than owning generation; the Kentucky utilities operate the generation fleet. Service demand, weather, plant availability and regulatory cost recovery shape results.
