PRA Group, Inc.PRAAFinancials

Acquires pools of charged-off credit-card, retail, telco, auto, and utility debt from banks and other creditors at a discount, then collects across the United States and Europe through call centers, digital portals, and legal action over multi-year cycles. A standing CFPB consent judgment governs how it pursues U.S. legal collections.

Buys portfolios of defaulted consumer receivables, including credit-card, retail, telecom, auto, and utility debt, from banks and other creditors at a fraction of face value, then collects through call centers, digital portals, and legal channels over multi-year cycles.

Operates through two reportable segments, U.S. and European, with the European business built on the acquisition of Aktiv Kapital, plus a smaller presence across South America, Canada, and Australia.

Growth is tracked through Estimated Remaining Collections, the projected cash flow on owned portfolios, built on disciplined portfolio purchasing, a shift of collections work offshore, and expanding digital repayment channels.

A consent judgment with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, entered in 2023, restrains legal collections on older purchased debt lacking full documentation, a compliance regime that continues to govern U.S. operations.
