A clinical-stage biotechnology company developing SZN-8141 and SZN-8143 for retinal vascular and inflammatory eye disease. Its antibody-engineering platform also supports SZN-413, a Fzd4-targeted program developed with Boehringer Ingelheim.
Applies Wnt-pathway biology and antibody engineering to multifunctional biologics for serious ophthalmic diseases. The wholly owned pipeline centers on SZN-8141 and SZN-8143: SZN-8141 pairs Fzd4 agonism with VEGF antagonism for diabetic macular edema and wet age-related macular degeneration, while SZN-8143 also adds IL-6 antagonism for uveitic macular edema.
Research and development are conducted through one operating segment from South San Francisco. The current focus followed a 2025 decision to narrow the platform to ophthalmology and discontinue the liver program SZN-043. Clinical execution depends on advancing preclinical candidates through IND clearance and studies; SZN-413 is being developed with Boehringer Ingelheim.
