Profile
Pure holding company whose only operating asset is a controlling stake in Teekay Tankers Ltd. (NYSE: TNK), an operator of roughly 48 crude- and product-tankers running predominantly on spot rates. After exiting LNG and offshore segments through 2022, the group now earns through tanker-rate cycles alone.
Controlling shareholder of Teekay Tankers Ltd. (NYSE: TNK), a mid-sized crude- and product-tanker operator running roughly 48 vessels — mostly Suezmax and Aframax / LR2 — on spot or short-term rates. The economic interest is roughly a third and the voting interest is majority. No direct vessel operations remain at the holding-company level.
After exiting offshore production (sold to Brookfield in 2019) and LNG transportation (sold to Stonepeak in 2022), the group pared back to tankers alone, completing the simplification with the sale of its management-services subsidiaries to TNK at year-end 2024.
Revenue flows from spot tanker-rate exposure across a globally spread fleet. Charter-rate cycles, single-subsidiary concentration, and the Bermuda Corporate Income Tax Act that took effect in 2025 are the structural dependencies that define the business today.
