Profile
Develops therapies built on a cyclic-peptide delivery platform that shuttles oligonucleotides into cells, applying it first to exon-skipping treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and, through a partnership with Vertex Pharmaceuticals, to myotonic dystrophy type 1; no therapy has reached the market and collaboration payments remain the primary revenue source.
Uses a cyclic-peptide delivery platform, the Endosomal Escape Vehicle, to carry oligonucleotides past the cell membrane and out of the endosome into the cytosol, reaching disease targets inside cells rather than on the surface.
The lead franchise applies that platform to exon-skipping oligonucleotides for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, with candidates targeting exons 44, 45, 50 and 51; the exon-44 program is furthest along, in clinical trials outside and inside the US.
A separate program for myotonic dystrophy type 1 advances through a partnership with Vertex Pharmaceuticals, which funds and runs an early-stage global trial and has been the primary source of revenue to date.
A multiyear US clinical hold on the exon-44 program, lifted in 2025 after supporting data gathered outside the country, delayed domestic trials; no therapy has yet reached the market.
