Profile

Vulcan Materials CompanyVMCMaterials

Produces and sells crushed stone, sand, and gravel for public infrastructure and private construction, alongside asphalt mix and ready-mixed concrete. Most profit comes from aggregates, whose transportation costs favor quarries and distribution terminals close to demand.

Produces crushed stone, sand, and gravel for roads, bridges, airports, utilities, homes, and commercial projects. Aggregates are the core business, supported by asphalt mix and ready-mixed concrete; recent divestitures of Houston asphalt and California concrete operations sharpened that focus while quarry and rail assets extended the distribution footprint.

Concentrates permitted reserves around growing U.S. metropolitan markets. Most aggregate shipments leave producing locations by truck, while rail, barge, and ship links reach coastal markets with limited nearby deposits of suitable rock. This network matches a heavy, transportation-intensive material with demand near construction sites.

Serves both publicly funded infrastructure and private residential and nonresidential construction. Results depend on construction activity, infrastructure appropriations, weather, energy and freight costs, and the ability to secure and permit strategically located reserves; trucking economics keep most aggregates markets local.

A 13F quarter can total more than the shares outstanding — sub-advisers file the same block twice, and a filer's own share count can be a quarter stale. No split is drawn from it.
