Research philosophy
Maintain a long-term perspective, focus on quality, and manage risk through diversification.
Edward Jones says it builds its advice on time-tested strategies that seek to avoid investment fads and unnecessarily complex instruments, and its Canadian arm says it does not recommend penny stocks, individual junk bonds, options or commodities. As of 2025 its Securities Research team screened stocks by geography, longevity, financial risk and size before applying fundamental and valuation analysis to determine a fair price.
Rating methodology
Buy, Hold and Sell ratings reflect expected total returns relative to industry peers over three to five years. A Hold can also indicate a special situation, such as a pending merger, for which no action is recommended.
