Beder is a three-time winner of The Wall Street Journal's Best on the Street honors. Reports reach institutional investors through FactSet, BlueMatrix and other aggregators. As of 2026, the firm offers its latest reports free and lets select investors speak directly with Beder, who authors all of its research.
Eric Beder founded Small Cap Consumer Research in December 2017 and launched it publicly in June 2018, presenting company-sponsored coverage as a response to MiFID II's unbundling of research payments, which he expected to shrink small and mid-cap sell-side coverage. Beder had previously covered retail and apparel stocks at Brean Murray, Carret & Co. from 2005 to 2014, Wunderlich Securities from 2014 to 2017 and briefly at B. Riley FBR after it acquired Wunderlich.

Research philosophy
Small Cap Consumer Research argues that many small companies receive only cursory sell-side coverage. It aims to educate investors by examining business drivers that other analysts have overlooked and discussing investors' questions with covered companies. Although issuers pay for coverage, the firm says it retains editorial control, receives no nonpublic information and does not own or trade the stocks it covers.
