Profile
Traces to a 1922 Chicago pecan-shelling storefront and remains run by the founding family four generations later, now vertically integrated in pecan and peanut shelling and selling nuts, snack mixes, and snack bars under owned brands and retailer private labels alike.
Grown from a Chicago pecan-shelling storefront opened by a Sicilian immigrant family in 1922, the business is now run by its fourth generation and vertically integrated in pecan and peanut shelling from an Elgin, Illinois campus.
Consumer brands including Fisher, Orchard Valley Harvest, Squirrel Brand, Southern Style Nuts, and Just the Cheese sit alongside a private-label business supplying nuts and snack mixes under retailer-owned names for most top grocery chains. Bulk ingredient nuts also go into bakery, confection, and foodservice supply chains, and a contract-manufacturing arm packages snacks for other food companies.
A 2023 acquisition of a Minnesota plant extended the business from nuts into snack and nutrition bars, its newest growth category. A dual-class share structure, in place since the 1991 listing, keeps founding-family voting control concentrated even as outside investors hold most of the economic interest.
