Profile

Johnson & JohnsonJNJHealth Care

Earns revenue through two global segments: Innovative Medicine sells prescription therapies, while MedTech supplies cardiovascular, surgical, orthopaedic and vision products. Product approvals and patent cycles shape the medicine portfolio, and Orthopaedics is slated for separation.

Develops prescription medicines through Innovative Medicine and medical technologies through MedTech for healthcare systems worldwide. The medicine portfolio spans oncology, immunology, neuroscience, pulmonary hypertension, infectious diseases, and cardiovascular and metabolic conditions; DARZALEX is its largest product franchise.

Sells electrophysiology, heart-support, circulatory-restoration and neurovascular devices, plus surgical systems, orthopaedics, ACUVUE contact lenses and TECNIS intraocular lenses. Internal research, collaborations, licensing and acquisitions replenish the portfolio, while global manufacturing and specialist distribution place products with hospitals, clinicians, wholesalers and retailers.

Results depend on clinical development, regulatory approvals, patent protection, reimbursement and product safety. Patent losses can quickly erode medicine sales, and talc litigation remains unresolved. Orthopaedics remains inside MedTech while a separation into a standalone DePuy Synthes is planned.

A 13F quarter can total more than the shares outstanding — sub-advisers file the same block twice, and a filer's own share count can be a quarter stale. No split is drawn from it.
