Profile
Stores, treats, and distributes drinking water — and, increasingly, collects and treats wastewater — across a four-county franchise in south-central Pennsylvania, growing mainly by acquiring small municipal and industrial-park systems one at a time under Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission oversight.
Stores, treats, and distributes drinking water across a franchise spanning four counties in south-central Pennsylvania, and has added wastewater collection and treatment as a newer, smaller line of business.
Growth comes mainly from folding in small municipal, industrial-park, mobile-home-park, and retirement-community systems one at a time, a pattern that pushed the franchise beyond its home county and, more recently, across the Susquehanna River into a county to the east.
Every rate change, financing decision, and service-territory expansion requires approval from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, and each acquisition depends on similar regulatory sign-off.
Incorporated in 1816 and listed on Nasdaq in 2000, the company runs with a workforce of about 127 people, small even among regional water utilities, and has paid a dividend without interruption since its founding.
