Loop's equity research covers the consumer, industrials and technology sectors, spanning industries such as internet, media, semiconductors, retail and transportation; the team numbered about 20 analysts in 2023. Its analysts have been recognized by The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times and Institutional Investor. As of 2026 its analysts average more than 15 years covering their industries. Its equity desk follows a strict agency-only policy that the firm says eliminates conflicts, and it says the desk is judged and rewarded on how it performs for clients.
James Reynolds Jr. and Albert Grace Jr. founded Loop Capital in Chicago in 1997 as a municipal bond firm with six employees. It expanded into corporate investment banking, equity sales and trading, transition management and asset management, and from 2016 built out a fundamental equity research platform. A 2022 strategic alliance gave KKR's equity capital markets clients access to Loop's banking and research. Reynolds remains chairman and chief executive.
