The group's earliest records date to Mayer Amschel Rothschild's Frankfurt business in 1769. His sons built banking houses in London, Paris, Vienna, Naples and Frankfurt. The French and British businesses merged into one group in 2003, and the listed parent, Paris Orléans, was renamed Rothschild & Co in 2015. The family holding company, Concordia, took the group private and delisted it from Euronext Paris in 2023. Rothschild & Co acquired a minority stake in Redburn in 2019, took full ownership by 2023 and merged it with Atlantic Equities.
