Profile

Luxfer Holdings PLCLXFRIndustrials

Two franchises drive the business: magnesium and zirconium specialty materials sold under the Elektron name, and composite and aluminum high-pressure gas cylinders for defense, first-response, healthcare, transportation, and industrial customers, manufactured across plants in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and China.

Two specialty-materials franchises anchor the business: Elektron, which supplies magnesium and zirconium alloys, powders, and oxides, and Gas Cylinders, which manufactures composite and aluminum high-pressure containment products.

Elektron's magnesium alloys go into aerospace, defense, and automotive lightweighting programs, while its powders supply aircraft countermeasure flares and military ration heaters, and its zirconium oxides serve automotive catalytic converters and industrial catalysis. Gas Cylinders makes carbon-composite SCBA cylinders for firefighters, medical-gas cylinders for hospitals, aviation safety cylinders, and CNG and hydrogen cylinders for alternative-fuel vehicles.

Manufacturing spans plants in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and China, with a joint venture in Japan. SCBA cylinder sales run through a small set of OEM customers, magnesium-powder demand tracks Department of Defense procurement cycles, and alternative-fuel cylinder volumes move with the cyclicality of CNG and hydrogen vehicle adoption.
