Profile

Rivian Automotive, Inc.RIVNConsumer Discretionary

Sells R1T pickups, R1S and R2 SUVs, and commercial electric vans through a direct model, alongside software, services, and regulatory credits. Vehicle revenue is complemented by a Volkswagen joint venture that develops electrical architecture and software for multiple automotive brands.

Designs and manufactures electric vehicles across the Automotive and Software and Services segments. The vehicle lineup spans the R1T pickup, R1S three-row SUV, newly launched R2 midsize SUV, and Rivian Commercial Van; R3 remains a future product. Sales also include regulatory credits, subscriptions, charging, service, remarketing, and vehicle software and electrical-architecture development.

Vertically integrated work covers propulsion, battery packs, chassis systems, electronics, software, and assisted-driving technology, enabling over-the-air updates and a direct customer relationship. Vehicles are built in Normal, Illinois and sold in the United States and Canada, while the Volkswagen joint venture develops architecture and software for multiple brands.

Growth depends on ramping R2 efficiently, sourcing thousands of components from mostly single- or limited-source suppliers, and funding new capacity. Volkswagen-linked development accounts for most software and services revenue, while Amazon remains a major commercial-van customer.
