Research philosophy
Equity research requires critical thinking skills, married with real world understanding of what companies can accomplish, and what they cannot.
As of 2026, Arete says its analysts meet or speak with more than 100 companies a month, organizing their research by sector rather than region and looking for potential underperformers as well as outperformers. It highlights Sell recommendations based on analysis of technology, sector trends and company accounting. The firm argues that avoiding major losses matters at least as much as investing in widely favored stocks.
Rating methodology
Stocks are rated Buy, Neutral or Sell relative to the analyst's industry coverage universe over 12 months.
