Overview
As of 2026, StoneX's equity research spans more than 30 industries organized into six broad sectors. Coverage includes healthcare, industrials, technology, media and telecom, consumer, energy, cannabis and China-related stocks. A financial institutions team covering regional and community banks was added in June 2026. The firm says its senior analysts average more than two decades of research experience and that many previously worked in the industries they cover.
StoneX Group traces its origins to Saul Stone and Company, founded in Chicago in 1924, and took shape through the 2009 merger of International Assets Holding Corporation and FCStone; the company was renamed INTL FCStone in 2011 and StoneX Group in 2020. In August 2025 it acquired The Benchmark Company, a New York research, trading and investment banking firm founded in 1988, initially keeping the Benchmark brand. In September 2026 Benchmark's business began moving to affiliate StoneX Financial Inc.

Research philosophy
Our analysts emphasize primary research, drawing on conversations with industry sources, competitors and subject matter experts to provide differentiated company and sector insight for institutional investors.
StoneX says regulatory oversight, ethical standards and internal policies support its research independence. It points to the separation of research from investment banking and sales, and to protections for analysts who publish unfavorable reports.
Rating methodology
As Benchmark, the firm rated stocks Buy, Speculative Buy (market value below $100 million and/or higher financial risk), Hold or Sell against an analyst-defined sector index over 6–12 months.
