Profile

EchoStar CorporationSATSCommunication Services

Combines pay-TV and wireless subscriptions under DISH, Sling, Boost, and Gen Mobile with Hughes satellite equipment and managed networks. Spectrum sales shifted Boost to a hybrid model built around AT&T’s network, while major U.S. operating subsidiaries undergo court-supervised reorganizations.

Provides DISH TV satellite television, Sling TV streaming, Boost Mobile and Gen Mobile wireless service, and Hughes and EchoStar Mobile satellite connectivity. Hughes supplies consumer broadband, managed networks, in-flight connectivity, and satellite equipment across the Americas and international markets.

The operating model changed after a nationwide spectrum sale to AT&T and agreements to sell other licenses to SpaceX. Boost retains its cloud core but routes customer traffic primarily over AT&T’s network. EchoStar Capital is tasked with investing proceeds in communications and adjacent businesses.

DISH TV and Sling depend on programming access and a declining pay-TV base; Hughes depends on satellite capacity and is refocusing its U.S. business on enterprise, government, and defense customers. DISH DBS, DISH Wireless, and Hughes’s U.S. entities are in court-supervised bankruptcy reorganizations, while Charles W. Ergen controls shareholder votes through supervoting shares.
