Overview
Under research director Mara Goldstein, a former Mizuho biotechnology analyst, Clear Street began coverage in November 2024 with bitcoin miners and energy-transition stocks. It added biotechnology in December 2024, business development companies and closed-end funds investing in collateralized loan obligations in July 2025, and fintech in September 2025. Private-company research followed in August 2026. Coverage focuses on companies with market values of roughly $100 million to $5 billion. Clear Street says its financing, trading and research services share real-time data and a support team on one platform. Clients can access private-company research alongside pre-IPO investment opportunities.
Uri Cohen, Chris Pento and Sachin Kumar founded Clear Street in New York in 2018 to build a cloud-native clearing, custody and prime-brokerage platform. It launched investment banking in June 2023 and hired former Cboe chief executive Ed Tilly, who became CEO. Clear Street filed for a Nasdaq IPO in January 2026 but withdrew it in February amid market volatility. Tilly retired in June 2026 and Cohen, the executive chairman, became CEO.
