Research philosophy
Key investment drivers for smaller capitalized companies include strong management, sustainable operations growth, and highly predictable future earnings and cash flow.
Monness, Crespi, Hardt uses fundamental analysis to identify undervalued companies and special situations with limited analyst coverage, regardless of market capitalization. For larger, mature companies, it looks for buying opportunities when the market misunderstands a product or overlooks an industry opportunity. The firm does not use expert networks. As of 2026, it conducts no investment banking, prohibits the firm and its employees from trading covered stocks, and does not use sales contests or quotas to promote particular securities.
