Overview

As of 2026, Truist Securities covers more than 650 companies. In 2024–2025, it added analysts covering large-cap and regional banks, fintech, biotechnology, utilities, data centers and oil and gas, with many joining from JPMorgan, RBC, Deutsche Bank, Piper Sandler and Autonomous Research. In a statement available as of 2025, equities head Mary Stroth said reports that included data attracted about 40% more readers than those without it.

The firm traces its lineage to Robinson-Humphrey, an Atlanta municipal bond house founded by Roby Robinson in 1894. SunTrust Banks bought Robinson-Humphrey's institutional business from Citigroup in 2001, creating SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. After BB&T and SunTrust merged into Truist Financial in December 2019, SunTrust Robinson Humphrey and BB&T Capital Markets combined in August 2020 as Truist Securities, which operates as Truist's full-service corporate and investment bank.

Research philosophy

Data on its own is really an incomplete picture.
Mary Stroth, head of equities (2024)

Truist Securities combines fundamental analysis with proprietary surveys and alternative data, and says senior analysts train junior colleagues to use these methods together. Equities head Mary Stroth has said clients value new information and distinct insights more than rating changes based solely on valuation. Analysts seek those insights in part through long-standing relationships with company management.
